UPCN Alumni Association

Overview

The University of the Philippines College of Nursing Alumni Association Inc. (UPCNAAI) was established with the primary purpose of fostering alumni relation, fellowship and unity among its members. It further aims to assist the college in the attainment of its objectives towards the professional and personal development of nurses towards nation building.

The goals of UPCNAAI are as follows:

To assist the College in promoting unity among the alumni
To organize activities
To encourage participation in activities and
To strengthen linkages with the UPNAAI and other UP Alumni associations

Students of the College automatically become members of the UPCNAAI. The UP College of Nursing had its first Alumni Homecoming and Reunion after it graduated its first batch in 1952. In 1989, a Joint Reunion among graduates of PGH School of Nursing, and graduates of the Post-basic and Masters program of the College became a reality. The College then had its first set of Ruby Jubilarians in 1992.

Activities of the Organization

Julita V. Sotejo Lecture on Nursing and Related Disciplines

The UPCNAAI annually holds the Julita V. Sotejo (JVS) Lecture Series on Nursing and Related Disciplines every month of June. Both alumni and students of the college are invited to attend the lecture. Topics for the lecture vary each year as it tackles timely issues in the field of nursing and health. In 2020, the JVS Lecture Series switched via Zoom platform in observance of the guidelines set by the IATF.

Alumni Homecoming

Reunions of the college alumni are being held annually in the month of June. This gathering gives the chance for the different batches who graduated from UPCN to get to know and share their experiences with each other after graduation.

Block Screening of Avengers Infinity War

This project was done in collaboration with the UPCN Foundation Inc. It aimed to generate funds for operational expenses and projects of the UPCN Alumni Association, Inc and UPCN Foundation, Inc while also promoting the organization, and its activities and projects. This event also encouraged members to join and socialize with the alumni, faculty and staff of the college. Proceeds from the project funded the scholars and projects of the organization, as well as the operations and maintenance of the JVS Memorabilia Room and the Alumni Foundation Office. The block screening was held on April 25, 2018, 6:30PM at Cinema 3, Robinson’s Manila, Ermita.
