Why Choose Nursing in UP
Join UP College of Nursing and together we will re-envision Nursing for the future!
As part of the University of the Philippines, the national university, we abide and personify the University motto of Honor and Excellence. Our brand of excellence imbued with integrity attracts highly motivated and driven students be it in our undergraduate or graduate programs.
Excellence is manifested in the 100% passing rate of its BSN graduates since its establishment in 1948. UPCN is also a CHED Center of Excellence and is the only WHO Collaborating Center for Leadership in Nursing Development in the Philippines.
In UP College of Nursing, you have the opportunity to work alongside nursing faculty experts in a wide range of practice and research areas. The culture of academic freedom in the University means that you get to explore research questions and contribute to solving problems in today’s healthcare.

Not only will you get to work with other Nursing students, faculty, and staff, but you will have the opportunity to collaborate with students and expert faculty and staff from other Colleges and Institutes of the University. We believe that through interprofessional education and collaborative practice, we will come up with relevant solutions to today’s pressing problems.
With our excellence-equity admission system in the undergraduate program, we ensure that students coming from geographically isolated and underserved areas are given chances to benefit from UP Nursing education. We also offer affordable world-class education in our graduate programs.

Learning extended the walls of the classroom and the laboratory. Our students get to participate in intensive clinical rotation in both the hospital and the community. The Philippine General Hospital, the teaching hospital of the University of the Philippines Manila, is a 1,500 bed national referral hospital where our students hone their clinical competencies. We also partner with Dr. Jose Fabella Memorial Medical Center and the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine for our students rotation in their maternal and child nursing, and infectious disease rotation, respectively. For the community rotation, we partner with the Manila Health Department (for urban community rotation) and the Province of Cavite (for the rural rotation).
The College of Nursing is a World Health Organization (WHO) Collaborating Center for Leadership in Nursing Development. In this capacity, we provide technical assistance to WHO to attain its thrust for health for all. We also work closely with national and international nursing organizations to influence nursing and health policies and programs.
