The World Health Organization redesignated the University of the Philippines Manila, College of Nursing, as a WHO Collaborating Center (WHOCC) for Leadership in Nursing Development. This appointment is effective until April 9, 2020.

UPCN Hosts 9th APEDNN Meeting

UPCN hosted the 9th Meeting of the Asia-Pacific Emergency and Disaster Nursing Network (APEDNN) held on 24-26 September 2015 at Century Park Hotel, Manila. With the theme “Strengthening Capacity and Linkages for Disaster Risk Management”, this year’s meeting anchored heavily on the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction 2015-2030 as guide for planning and direction of the Network for 2016-2020.

The second half of 2015 has been marked by major local and international developments. As a partner of the PRC Board of Nursing writing modules and promoting the National Nursing Core Competency Standards (NNCCS), UPCN conducted a pilot workshop on NNCCS Spreading and Embedding in the BSN Curriculum workshop last July 27-31, 2015. The Dean likewise is a member of the CHED task force to establish equivalency of Philippine Nursing curriculum with ASEAN countries.

UPM REB and CN hold 3rd Training on GCP & Health Research Ethics

UPM REB with UPCN conducted the 3rd Training Workshop on Principles of Good Clinical Practice & Health Research Ethics on December 9-10, 2015 at the UPCN Seminar Room. This is part of UPCN’s effort to promote ethical nursing researches in the country.

UPCN Welcomes Foreign Visitors

The College of Nursing, known to be a Center of Excellence, was visited by faculty representatives from Chubu Gakuin University in Japan last August 7, 2015 for possible research collaboration in elderly care in Asia. The National Cheng Kung University in Taiwan came on September 19, 2015 to benchmark about research, community nursing and outcome based practice.

UPCN Class 2015 maintains 100% passing rate in the NLE, 16 in Top Ten

UPCN Class 2015 has continued to maintain the College's "tradition" of 100% passing rate in the Philippine Nursing Licensure Examinations since foundation. Sixteen (16) graduates also made it to the top ten scoring highest in the said exams. The oathtaking of the newly-registered nurses held last February 12, 2016 was officiated by Dr. Mary Grace Gascon, Chair of the PRC Board of Nursing.

UPCN hosts 9th Asia Pacific Emergency & Disaster Nursing Network Meeting

On September 24-26, 2015, UPCN as secretariat will host the 9th meeting of the Asia Pacific Emergency and Disaster Nursing Network at the Century Park Hotel, Manila. This year’s meeting will focus on mapping out the role of the network in relation to the Sendai Framework on Disaster Risk Reduction 2015-20030. It is expected that around eighty foreign members will attend the meeting.


Cambodia Nurse Bridging Program Concludes

The Cambodia Nurse Bridging Program (CNBP) successfully concluded during a recognition ceremony held on 28 January 2015 at theUniversity of Health Sciences- Technical School for Medical Care (UHSTSMC), Phnom Penh, Cambodia. The recognition ceremonies was attended by UPM Chancellor Carmencita Padilla, key officials from the World Health Organization, Cambodian Ministry of Health, the Philippine Embassy at Phnom Penh and UPCN faculty.
