UPCN hosts 9th Asia Pacific Emergency & Disaster Nursing Network Meeting

On September 24-26, 2015, UPCN as secretariat will host the 9th meeting of the Asia Pacific Emergency and Disaster Nursing Network at the Century Park Hotel, Manila. This year’s meeting will focus on mapping out the role of the network in relation to the Sendai Framework on Disaster Risk Reduction 2015-20030. It is expected that around eighty foreign members will attend the meeting.

In 2013, UPCN co-organized the 7th Meeting of the Asia-Pacific Emergency and Disaster Nursing Network (APEDNN) in its capacity as APEDNN Secretariat (2013-2015) and WHO Collaborating Center for Leadership in Nursing Development together with the WHO South East Asia and Western Pacific Regional Offices, and Mahidol University, Thailand. The Meeting was held in Bangkok, Thailand. With the theme “Nurse-midwife: A catalyst in contributing to building community resilience”, a major output of the meeting was the checklist on the role of nurses and midwives in community resilience. Eighty nine (89) participants from 29 countries all over the Asia-Pacific and South East Asia participated in the meeting. The 8th APEDNN Meeting will was held in Wuhan, China on 25-27 Nov 2014 with the theme “Building workforce for post-disaster response”.
